The Opel Astra OPC Extreme, which makes its world premiere at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, is a real race-bred performance car. Developed on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the most challenging race track in the world, it is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine with over 300 hp and equipped with all the key high-tech components from its racing peer, the Opel Astra OPC Cup. The Astra OPC Extreme was developed directly from the Cup version and brings pure racing technology to the road. If public reaction is as positive as expected, Opel plans a low-volume production run for the super sporty, street-legal Extreme.

Over 300 hp will be unleashed from under the Extreme's carbon fiber hood. Its 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine, with direct injection and variable camshaft phasing, is quite simply the most powerful four-cylinder unit Opel has ever produced. The all-aluminum engine is mated to a slick, six-speed manual gearbox transmitting power through a limited-slip differential. This race-proven powerplant will have an easy time of it with the OPC Extreme, because the super sporty car is 100 kilograms lighter than a conventional Astra OPC thanks to its high-quality, carbon fiber components.

Used in Formula 1 racing to reduce weight, carbon composite is incorporated throughout the Extreme. This high-strength, ultra-light material is used for the aerodynamically-optimized rear wing, the diffuser, front spoiler, hood, suspension cross-bracing, the engine cover, complete wheels, rear wheelhouse ventilation and roof. The carbon wheels are 20 kilograms lighter than their aluminum counterparts. This is weight saving in a decisive area because unsprung mass is substantially reduced - much to the joy of engineers and driving fun of drivers. The inhouse manufactured carbon fiber roof is almost as light as a feather. It weighs just 2.6 kilograms, compared to a steel roof's 9.3 kilograms, and noticeably lowers the Astra Extreme's center of gravity. The fenders are made of aluminum and weigh only 800 grams a piece instead of 2.2 kilograms in steel.

The weight reduction in key areas greatly improves agility, overall handling and, of course, the car's power-to-weight ratio. As a result, the street-legal Extreme sweeps through fast curves as playfully and quickly as its racing brother in the Nürburgring Endurance Championship (VLN). Opel has also given the Extreme breathtaking stopping power to match, with a Brembo six-piston brake system including 370 mm diameter discs up front race car. Ultra high-performance, 245/35, 19-inch tires, specially developed for the Extreme, also play a key role and give almost as much grip as those on the race car. In addition, the chassis (spring/damper) is adjustable, just like in a real touring car racer.

The pursuit of uncompromised performance continues in the design of the Extreme'S cabin: the back seats are out and a safety roll bar is in. The driver and co-driver are perfectly positioned in specially-designed Recaro bucket seats, complete with six-point safety belts from Schroth. In the Astra OPC Extreme, the crew doesn't just sit in the car, they are fully integrated as part of the vehicle itself. The driver also has the tactile pleasure of gripping a superb, carbon-fiber-reinforced, suede-covered steering wheel with fine yellow decorative stitching. Opel Motorsport's core color also dresses up the Astra OPC Extreme elsewhere, for instance in the exclusively designed logo and as lacquer on the side sills and front spoiler lip.

The Astra GTC body format - the base model for the OPC Extreme - ideally embodies Opel's sculptural design philosophy. Its flowing, sculpted shapes and precise accents blend into dramatic proportions. The Astra OPC Extreme's multi-layer paint lacquer is combined with high-quality decal details to give a three-dimensional effect, further emphasizing the car's clean edges, bold lines and athletic proportions.

Cool and tough, chunky and funky: Opel Adam Rocks combines the joy of driving under an open sky with all the fun of an adventure-loving mini-crossover. Making its world debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, Adam Rocks is the next addition to the Adam family. Coming on top of Adam Jam, Adam Glam and Adam Slam, it will further extend Adam`s almost unlimited personalization possibilities, and strengthen its position as the individualization champion among automobiles. Presented as a concept car at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Adam Rocks received such an enthusiastic response that the company's new leadership team swiftly made the decision to make it real and to announce its production at this year's show. Opel Adam Rocks will hit the market in the summer of 2014.

The newest model in Opel's urban lifestyle family is a 3.74-meter short car with huge zest for life - inside and outside the city. Featuring an electrically operated, retracting, Swing Top canvas roof as standard, signature body cladding all-round and a 15 mm raised ride height, Adam Rocks opens a new market niche; it is the first three-door urban pocket-crossover under 4.00 meters in length. To further individualize its cabin, Opel designers have developed new design elements, décors and seating trims that are unique to the Adam Rocks. In addition to the many innovations that raise Adam's safety and comfort - like its hands-free Park Assist that parks the car automatically - the Rocks also features Opel's new generation IntelliLink infotainment system. It allows seamless integration of Android as well as Apple iOS smartphone functionalities into the car and makes it the best-connected small car at a very affordable price.

Rocks not only introduces new looks and muscles, but also new generation powertrain technologies into the Adam. It will accommodate Opel's all-new 1.0-liter ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo three-cylinder engine. This high-tech pocket powerhouse raises the bar for three-cylinder engine refinement and packs up to 115 hp, with impressive low-end torque of 166 Nm. It offers great fuel efficiency with consumption as low as 4.3 l/100 km (according to NEDC test procedure; preliminary data). The 1.0 ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo is combined with an all-new, highly efficient, compact six-speed manual transmission, which features superbly smooth and fast shift operation.

Designed for rugged individuality
Inspired by the exploits of agile 'Parkour' athletes who use the city landscape as their playground, the new Opel Adam Rocks body style opens a new niche - a space in the small car segment for urban mini three-door crossover vehicles. So far, the most compact model that is comparable is about 40 cm longer. Rugged good looks, a higher stance and muscular proportions as well as a Swing Top roof for fast, open-air fun will appeal to those seeking personal freedom off the beaten track in the city and beyond the urban landscape.

Key to Adam Rocks' purposeful stance is a 15 mm increase in body ride height, giving greater ground clearance, and a wider, masculine appearance. Parts of the chassis system have been modified or re-tuned - including dampers, springs, the rear suspension geometry, and direct, responsive steering. The higher, wider looks are matched by a choice of 17-inch standard or 18-inch optional alloy wheels. These can be further personalized with new wheel clips in "Wild" design and different colors that are unique to the Rocks.

Protective, anthracite-colored cladding is wrapped tightly around the Adam Rocks, giving it a tough, muscular look. The front trapezoidal grille, with a chrome central brand bar, is embedded in the cladding, while contrasting, satin chrome 'boomerang' elements frame the front fog lamps/indicator housings and the reversing/fog lamps at the rear. LED daytime running lights and tail lights also come as standard. Silver skid plates front and rear and a bold chrome exhaust complete the exterior design.

Every bit as customizable as its Adam peers, the new Rocks model joins the line of individualization champions. As for exterior personalization, Rocks features the same "floating roof" design as Adam Jam, Adam Glam and Adam Slam, offering the possibility to combine different body and roof colors. New body paints will be introduced with Adam Rocks, such as the vibrant yellow "Goldbusters". The color palette will then comprise 18 body plus six roof colors for two-tone combinations.

The Opel Meriva has, since its first appearance in 2003, been the star and benchmark amongst the small monocabs. The second generation launched in 2010 has raised the standard with innovative features such as its rear-hinged Flex Doors, its exquisite, flexible seating, relaxed posture on front- and rear seats and many clever storage solutions. All these make the current Meriva the Ergonomics Champion, as has been concluded by independent health experts. Opel now presents the new Meriva - more sophisticated, more efficient and more functional than ever. It celebrated its world premiere at the 2014 Brussels' Motor Show in mid-January 2014.

The new Opel Meriva is a consistent continuation of the previous concept enhanced with finer ingredients. It receives a new face that has the characteristics of the new Opel Insignia revealed at the 2013 IAA, with an elegant, generously chromed front grille and sparkling design for the lights. LED technology is now available for the daytime running lights and rear lamps resulting in a crisp, high tech look. A fine chrome trim highlights the typical window wave-shaped belt line, raising the Meriva's appeal and placing it neatly alongside the ADAM, the Cascada and the Insignia.

The new Meriva features Opel's new generation diesel power train, the 1.6 CDTI that is just having its debut in the Zafira Tourer. This ultra-refined whisper-diesel, the quietest in its class, is initially available in the power variant 100 kW/136 hp and delivers 320 Newt on meters of maximum torque. It consumes just 4.4 liters per 100 kilometers and emits 116 grams of CO2 per kilometer, 10 per cent less than its 96 kW/130 hp, 1.7 predecessor, while it also boasts much better acceleration and performance. In the course of the year 2014, other 1.6 diesel engines will follow, which will be even more economical and have even lower CO2 emissions.

In addition to the 1.6 diesel, all gasoline engines and the LPG variant in the new Meriva already comply with the future, strict Euro 6 emissions limits. The 1.4 liter gasoline engines (88 kW/120 hp and 103 kW/140 hp) are now also offered in combination with a reworked low-friction six-speed automatic transmission. As for the five and six-speed manual gearboxes, these have been substantially upgraded and offer more precise shifting, with smooth operation and minimal effort.

The new Opel Meriva also receives a new, state-of-the-art Intelli Link infotainment system with embedded, fast and user-friendly navigation and voice control. The large, high-definition, seven-inch color monitor affords great readability and easy operation. It also displays the image from the rear-view camera. Making calls and audiostreaming via Bluetooth are also possible. The Navi 950 Intelli Link comes standard with comprehensive map information covering the whole of Europe, and further updates can easily be downloaded via USB.

Fresh design with chic features and elegant chrome elements
Opel's design philosophy - sculptural artistry meets German precision - fits perfectly with a small, highly flexible monocab. The new Meriva benefits from many improvements that give it a more refined appearance. The front fascia now features a new grille with higher chrome content, as well as chrome accents embracing the fog lamps. The grille is framed by the newly-designed front headlights with an eagle eye graphic. For the first time, LED daytime running lights are available. On the side, the new elegant chrome beltline effectively highlights the waved design that accentuates the rear window. This feature and the centrally located door handles mark out the innovative FlexDoors, rear-hinged rear doors which allow for easy entry into the vehicle.

The dynamic and elegant character of the rear gets a new touch of class thanks to LED lights with new, marked high quality graphics. The new Meriva also features newly-designed 17 and 18 inch wheels with premium look and feel. With this, the Opel Meriva remains the only small monocab offering 18-inch wheels which give it a unique stance and presence on the road, placing it a cut above its competitors.

New Euro 6-clean diesel generation with trend-setting technology
The new Meriva boasts the new generation Opel 1.6 CDTI medium-displacement turbo-diesel engine. Developed from scratch, this engine is just making its debut in the Zafira Tourer. In the Meriva, its several variants will progressively replace the 1.3 and 1.7 CDTI power units. The new 1.6 CDTI convinces with strong performance, great fuel economy, and impressive refinement. However, it does not just cater to its passengers but also to the environment. Already today, it complies with the future emissions regulation Euro 6, that will come into force in September 2015.

Initially, Opel offer the new Opel Meriva with the 100kW/136hp version of this new generation engine. The all-aluminum power unit with Common-Rail direct injection and Variable Turbine Geometry Turbocharger offers 320 Newtonmeters of maximum torque at 2,000 rpm. This is 6 additional hp and 20 Nm more than the 1.7 CDTI it succeeds, allowing for a substantial improvement in acceleration: The new Meriva swiftly reaches 100 km/h from standstill in just 9.1 seconds, vs. 9.9 seconds previously. However, it also impresses with its values in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions thanks to the lowest frictions of its engine class between1,500 and 2,500 rpm. Consumption and emissions are expected to be of only 4.4 liters per 100 kilometer and 116 grams per kilometer respectively. This is a 10% improvement compared to the previous 96 kW/130 hp 1.7 CDTI (which required 4.9 liter and produced 129 grams). Additional versions of the new generation 1.6 CDTI with even lower fuel consumption and CO2 levels will be introduced in the first half of 2014.

Attention to detail - inside and out
The new Opel Insignia OPC impresses at first glance. The re-styled front and rear, with signature OPC design elements such as distinctive saber-tooth detailing at the front and the tailpipe trim integrated in the rear, underline its power and evoke visions of high-speed laps around the Nürburgring.

The eye-catching bodywork encapsulates state-of-the-art technology. The OPC chassis is enhanced, with special focus on the re-worked rear axle - as in the other members of the new Insignia family - where engineers have modified around 60 percent of the componentry. In addition, noise and vibration behavior is improved through numerous fine-tuning measures. New ESP software enables even more precise dynamics tuning, especially in reaction to understeer tendencies. Modified damper software for the FlexRide chassis with its adjustable shock absorbers ensures optimum roadholding. This OPC-specific programming improves driving dynamics, allowing a quicker and more precise response to different maneuvers and road conditions.

With six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive, the Insignia OPC sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds (Sports Tourer: 6.3 seconds) and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). In unrestricted specification, the OPC with manual transmission goes on to a maximum speed of 270 km/h (Sports Tourer: 265 km/h). The high performance, Brembo braking system ensures rapid deceleration with maximum stability, even during high-intensity use.

In addition, the Insignia OPC benefits from its electronically controlled 4x4 system. The all-wheel drive system incorporates a high-quality clutch, operating on Haldex principles, and an electronic limited-slip differential to ensure superb traction. It constantly adapts to prevailing road conditions and varies torque distribution seamlessly from zero to 100 percent between the front and rear axles, as well as between the rear wheels. In combination with the electronically controlled FlexRide premium chassis, the all-wheel drive system sets standards in terms of reaction time and vehicle control.

Motorsports feeling flows into interior
The cabin welcomes OPC drivers with pure motorsport ambience. Recaro performance seats, also optionally available in leather with a memory function, the OPC gearshift knob and a completely new main instrument panel and center console exude premium flair. Beyond basic information, drivers can see specific details like oil pressure and temperature, battery voltage, throttle position, brake power and the g-force resulting from lateral acceleration on the optional, 8-inch instrument readout display.

The new performance steering wheel (optionally heated) features shift levers when it is combined with automatic transmission. This enables the OPC driver to execute extremely quick manual shifts, even when in automatic mode. If the shift levers are then idle for at least 12 seconds, the vehicle continues to drive normally in automatic mode. But that is not enough for Opel. At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Opel shows that it explores ways of further enhancing Adam's individualization and reveals an urban mini-crossover study called Adam Rocks. With its new 3-door body style, its 3.70 meters in length, muscular proportions, fierce design and open-air capability, Opel Adam Rocks also is a proposal for opening a new segment of the market.

Showcasing how Adam's unique personalization program can get another twist, the Rocks Concept has been created for those seeking personal freedom 'off the beaten track' beyond the urban landscape. Inspired by Parkour urban athletes, it is higher and wider on its wheels, tougher and more compact in appearance. The Adam Rocks' special feeling of personal freedom is further emphasized by its cabrio looks and fabric roof that offers a free view of the sky above. The fabric extends across the entire width and length of the roof, right back to the C-pillars.

Parkour fun on four wheels
The Rocks Concept embodies the characteristic strengths of current Adam models: just like them, it is an athletic small, urban lifestyle car with exciting design, unrivalled personalization and connectivity possibilities, and the best of German engineering. Its mature new crossover body style is supported by a chassis that is raised by 15 mm with a 40 mm wider stance. Agile "Parkour" athletes, who give city spaces another twist and dimension, were the inspiration for the Adam Rocks sporty urban crossover concept. Its look is emphasized by impressive 'elbow and knee pads': protective cladding around the side sills, as well as a centrally-located exhaust tailpipe in OPC style. The Opel Adam Rocks' assertive looks - with a prominent grille structure and LED headlamps - show this car means business. The boomerang shaped turn indicators, enclosing the fog lamps highlight this effect and, when off, they shimmer in opaque glass. This makes the Adam Rocks' styling even more individual - just like the additional blinkers in the front side sills.

The car rides on large 18-inch wheels in Twister design featuring visible Brembo disc brakes. These wheels, which are fitted with innovative exchangeable wheel clips, are already available in Adam's production program. But the Rocks Concept's clips get a new, bolder, even more expressive design and a selection of new colors makes them stand out in contrast to the body's various grey tones. Neon-blue stripes highlight the tire tread. This color motif is echoed in the interior and around the roof.

Clear view of the sky
The major benefit of this layout is that passengers can enjoy open-air driving fun without losing trunk space. The electric roof folds back via remote control in front of the C-pillars and does not protrude into the tailgate, leaving unrestricted access to the trunk's full capacity. The additional weight caused by this system is minimal compared to a traditional, pure cabrio concept - a major criteria for a car of that size. The 'networked' roof's special appeal is its intelligence: a special weather app, displayed on the color driver-information-center of the IntelliLink infotainment system, knows when a weather front is imminent and automatically initiates closing of the roof. While its Sports Tourer sibling is an elegant family and business station wagon, the new Opel Insignia Country Tourer expresses an innate desire for adventure. The athletic all-rounder, with its higher ground clearance, provides freedom beyond the constraints of city limits and asphalt roads. Defining features include protective under-body guards front and rear, combined with prominent wheel-arch and lower body cladding, all complemented by dual exhaust tailpipes. State-of-the-art all-wheel drive ensures grip and sure-footed handling in all driving conditions. It is teamed with powerful turbo engines such as a 184 kW/250 hp, 2.0-liter SIDI direct injection gasoline unit or a high-performance 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI - both generating impressive maximum torque of 400 Nm.

Opel's all-wheel drive: Top-class technology in the mid-size segment
The electronically controlled 4x4 drivetrain incorporates a high-quality clutch, operating on Haldex principles, and an electronic limited-slip differential to ensure superb traction on both paved and unpaved surfaces. It constantly adapts to prevailing road conditions and varies torque distribution seamlessly from zero to 100 percent between the front and rear axles, as well as between the rear wheels. The main benefit is that all this happens even before a wheel starts to slip due to lack of traction, for example on wet or snow-covered roads. In combination with the electronically controlled FlexRide premium chassis, the all-wheel drive system sets standards in terms of reaction time and vehicle control.

When necessary, the clutch controlling drive distribution immediately sends more torque to the rear axle. The 4x4 system's sensors constantly feed individual control modules with information on yaw rate, acceleration, steering angle, wheel speed, gas pedal position, engine speed and torque, and the front/rear power distribution is constantly adapted to the driving situation based on this information.

Ultimate stability and higher dynamics are ensured by the electronically-controlled rear-axle Limited Slip Differential (eLSD). The eLSD controls the distribution of torque between the rear wheels, transferring drive torque to the wheel that has the most grip. While offering better traction in slippery conditions, the sophisticated operation of this adaptive 4x4 drive system guarantees the highest levels of driver control and active safety in all situations. The Opel Insignia Country Tourer can even provide propulsion when three wheels are on loose or slippery ground and only one rear wheel has traction.

The adaptive all-wheel system also supports drivers in non-critical situations. To reduce frictional losses and save fuel, the system automatically reverts to front-wheel drive whenever it senses that no adaptive interventions are required.

Turbo engine line-up: High torque on demand
Strong Opel turbo engine power is a perfect match for the Country Tourer's state-of-the-art 4x4 drivetrain. The choice of three engines is led by a 184 kW/250 hp 2.0 SIDI (Spark Ignition Direct Injection) Turbo gasoline engine, delivering excellent performance. Generating an impressive 400 Nm of torque, this direct injection engine guarantees massive levels of traction.

The high-performance 143 kW/195 hp 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI diesel also packs 400 Nm of pulling power. Its sequential, two-phase turbocharger delivers an immediate throttle response for excellent traction. A 120 kW/163 hp, 2.0 CDTI (with single tailpipe) completes the engine line-up, giving access to 350 Nm of torque, which is raised briefly to 380 Nm on overboost.

Both the 2.0 SIDI Turbo and the 2.0 CDTI can be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission, while the 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI is available only with the latter.

The Opel model offensive moves to the next level with the new Opel Insignia that celebrates its world premiere at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The top model shines with even more attractive interior and exterior styling, taking the award-winning design philosophy "sculptural artistry meets German precision" to the next level. New powerful and ultra-efficient direct injection engines like the two new-generation Turbo gasoline units and the 99 g Turbo diesel expand the wide portfolio. This minor emission puts the new 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine in the A+ efficiency class. Both variants (the 88 kW/120 hp and 103 kW/140 hp according to EG Nr. 715/2007) consume either as the four or five-door model with six-speed manual transmission and Start/Stop system just 3.7 liters of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle (Sports Tourer: 3.9 l/100 km). Therefore the Opel Insignia 2.0 CDTI is the most fuel efficient diesel car in its class.

A host of chassis enhancements ensures higher agility and comfort. And a completely new infotainment system generation is now available for the Insignia. It integrates many smartphone functions into the car and can be operated intuitively and simply via a touchpad in the center console.

The top model can be ordered in Germany starting the 21st of June, 2013, as a four-door, five-door and Sports Tourer variant; prices begin at 24,325 euros (RRP incl. VAT in Germany.)

Sleek: Clearly arranged cockpit with new infotainment generation
The spotlight was on three criteria during the enhancement of the cockpit: clear, simple and thus intuitive operation, customization of the infotainment offer, and of course comfort and safety for driver and passengers, which is increased even more thanks to lowest-possible distraction from road traffic.

The center console has a completely new feeling of subtlety and refinement, and it harbors a host of state-of-the-art technologies and functions. The black piano lacquer and chrome control panel was drastically simplified. It now has just a few buttons so that operation of the infotainment system and e.g. air conditioning is fast and intuitive.

The new infotainment generation in the Insignia can be controlled over an 8-inch color display with touch operation. From the starting screen the driver can access all function and sub-menus such as radio stations, song titles, smartphone connection or 3D navigation map via button, touchscreen, voice control or the brand new touchpad. And the infotainment system can be individualized - up to 60 personal favorites (e.g. playlists, phone contacts, navigation addresses) can be stored.

The touchpad is ergonomically integrated in the center console and offers a completely new way of quickly and intuitively accessing the infotainment system. Its illuminated, touch-sensitive surface reacts immediately to finger movements including haptic feedback and makes operation of the new infotainment generation child's play without distracting the driver from the traffic situation. Even individual letters - for instance when searching for a song title in the database or a city in the navigation system - can be entered by fingertip on the touchpad.

The Insignia driver can control the newest generation infotainment system over newly designed, clearly laid-out steering wheel controls as well as voice commands. The advanced voice recognition function can be activated by the simple push of a button on the steering wheel controls and can also process more than one command at a time. The wide range of operating choices is the result of enhancements to the new infotainment generation.

Intensifying the man-and-machine connection is the newly designed instrument panel with an up to 8-inch high-resolution color display. In addition to the classic readouts like speed, rpm and fuel tank level, further information on navigation, smartphone use and audio options are directly in the driver's line of sight and can be adjusted.

The new Opel Insignia also makes a statement in terms of power train and chassis. While the mid-size model already received many accolades for driving comfort, handling and road holding, the new edition plays in a higher league. Opel engineers made a host of improvements to the chassis including to the dampers, stabilizers and steering, resulting in decreased noise and vibrational behavior and even higher comfort.

The broad, newly expanded engine portfolio is tuned to performance and comfort without any compromises. The new Opel Insignia offers the choice between the three propulsion alternatives gasoline, diesel and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas); power output ranges from 81 kW/110 hp to 239 kW/325 hp.

The new Insignia 2.0 CDTI is the eco and fuel-saving champion. Thanks to its new 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, the 88 kW/120 hp and 103 kW/140 hp variants emit just 99 g/km CO2 (Sports Tourer: 104 g/km CO2) according to EG Nr. 715/2007. This puts it in the A+ efficiency class, as the four and five-door models with six-speed manual transmission and Start/Stop system consume just 3.7 liters of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle (Sports Tourer: 3.9 l/100 km) - optimum values in this vehicle class. Both variants also boast superb torque, with the 88 kW/120 hp Turbo diesel providing up to 320 Nm and the 103 kW/140 hp model even up to 370 Nm - thanks to an automatic over boost function.

The top-of-the-line diesel is the 143 kW/195 hp 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI. The high-performance diesel with sequential, two stage turbo chargers reaches impressive torque of 400 Nm and is distinguished by its direct responsiveness as well as exemplary propulsion power across a broad rpm range.
