 Peugeot 2008, 2014

The 2008, Peugeot capitalises on its expertise acquired with the success of the 3008 Crossover to create an innovative vehicle for the B segment. Set to go on sale in spring 2013, it joins in the dynamic of the offensive successfully initiated by the 208.

Peugeot innovates by designing the first urban crossover that is easy, exciting and brings an enhanced driving experience:
  • An innovative cockpit, structured around the small steering wheel, combining high-quality instrumentation and touch screen - as is the strategy for the brands products,
  • A dynamic behaviour synonymous with enjoyment, with Peugeot's ride and handling expertise,
  • Freedom to go on mixed terrain due to raised ground clearance, protection and Grip Control.
An international concept
On all continents, the world is changing, becoming more urbanised. The new generation of people love the city as much as they like to escape from it. Dynamic, flexible, they move constantly from one configuration to another life. Regardless of their continent, they are looking for products to enhance their image and enchant their lives.

With the mind, the brand has developed a specification of ambitious targets. The crossover by Peugeot combines a unique driving experience, with strong design and benefits of use. The challenge was to integrate this DNA design across three geographic areas for a vehicle for a global clientele. The Peugeot 2008 sold in Europe is produced in the factory in Mulhouse (France).

At just 4.16m long and 1.74m wide, Peugeot 2008 innovates by combining uniquely exciting driving, the robustness of an SUV with the practicality of space, comfort and modularity so to enjoy each moment. Equally at home in town and on the road, it can escape the restrictions of a city with confidence and ease due to its enhanced traction of Grip Control.

A unique style for a new territory
The Peugeot 2008 reinvents the standards of large volume vehicles in the small car segment. Innovative from first glance, it successfully merges the worlds. The strong stylistic trend affirms its identity contributing to practicality, volume and driving experience.

With its raised posture, the 2008 runs on 'Mud&Snow' tyres and 17'' alloy wheels in a matt finish. The special shape of the wheel arch surrounds give the Peugeot 2008 a good stance of clear capability. The black bumpers and body sills protect it, together with stainless steel front and rear off-road protection panels with chromed side mouldings.

The front face adopts the stylistic codes of the Marque. The components are adjusted precisely, all surplus material removed. Finely sculpted, the bonnet demonstrates the protection, strength and lightness of the 2008. The floating grille is cut from a block and is set upright with an expression which is both refined and full of power. The innovative headlamps are designed precisely to the technical functions. Sharp, they act with the bodywork to outline a cat's pupil. Sculpted, they are one with the front face, giving it an even more expressive, technological and individual character. This look is emphasised by LED day running lamps. The bonnet and wings complete this reassuring impression of precision, protection and strength, yet still lightweight.

The new urban crossover has very elegant and sophisticated sculpted wings and sides, indicating clear athletic qualities. The generous glazed surfaces, including the panoramic roof, promise a spacious interior open to its surroundings. The rear elegantly combines strength with dynamism. The boot volume, with a low loading sill, has above it a roof with dynamic curves, inspired by the RCZ. The wide tailgate is framed by lamps secured solidly to the bodywork. Floating inside their housing, the three luminous claws lit at their base by LEDs appear suspended.

The dynamic and elegant movement of the roof is also a feature of the profile. A roof wave emerges above the rear seats and sets the scene for an exclusive decoration as if cut into the metal. As if crimped to the bodywork, it is the origin of the spoiler in an extension of the same part, on the surface. The precise design of the roof bars puts the finishing touches to the concepts of dynamism and leisure expressed by the Peugeot 2008.

An innovative driving experience in the crossover segment
From first glance, the interior of the Peugeot 2008 takes its driver on a journey along new roads. Grip Control dial and aircraft type handbrake arranged on an exclusive console, new Brundy trim with an earthy tone … the driver is transported in an elegant ambiance with striking colour schemes. A true invitation to touch, the fascia capping is covered in a silky material. Satin chrome parts brighten this space: vents, handbrake lever, small steering wheel lower decoration, gear lever knob ears, touch screen trims.

Opel Insignia, 2014

The Opel model offensive moves to the next level with the new Opel Insignia that celebrates its world premiere at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The top model shines with even more attractive interior and exterior styling, taking the award-winning design philosophy "sculptural artistry meets German precision" to the next level. New powerful and ultra-efficient direct injection engines like the two new-generation Turbo gasoline units and the 99 g Turbo diesel expand the wide portfolio. This minor emission puts the new 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine in the A+ efficiency class. Both variants (the 88 kW/120 hp and 103 kW/140 hp according to EG Nr. 715/2007) consume either as the four or five-door model with six-speed manual transmission and Start/Stop system just 3.7 liters of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle (Sports Tourer: 3.9 l/100 km). Therefore the Opel Insignia 2.0 CDTI is the most fuel efficient diesel car in its class.

A host of chassis enhancements ensures higher agility and comfort. And a completely new infotainment system generation is now available for the Insignia. It integrates many smartphone functions into the car and can be operated intuitively and simply via a touchpad in the center console.

The top model can be ordered in Germany starting the 21st of June, 2013, as a four-door, five-door and Sports Tourer variant; prices begin at 24,325 euros (RRP incl. VAT in Germany.)

Sleek: Clearly arranged cockpit with new infotainment generation
The spotlight was on three criteria during the enhancement of the cockpit: clear, simple and thus intuitive operation, customization of the infotainment offer, and of course comfort and safety for driver and passengers, which is increased even more thanks to lowest-possible distraction from road traffic.

The center console has a completely new feeling of subtlety and refinement, and it harbors a host of state-of-the-art technologies and functions. The black piano lacquer and chrome control panel was drastically simplified. It now has just a few buttons so that operation of the infotainment system and e.g. air conditioning is fast and intuitive.

The new infotainment generation in the Insignia can be controlled over an 8-inch color display with touch operation. From the starting screen the driver can access all function and sub-menus such as radio stations, song titles, smartphone connection or 3D navigation map via button, touchscreen, voice control or the brand new touchpad. And the infotainment system can be individualized - up to 60 personal favorites (e.g. playlists, phone contacts, navigation addresses) can be stored.

The touchpad is ergonomically integrated in the center console and offers a completely new way of quickly and intuitively accessing the infotainment system. Its illuminated, touch-sensitive surface reacts immediately to finger movements including haptic feedback and makes operation of the new infotainment generation child's play without distracting the driver from the traffic situation. Even individual letters - for instance when searching for a song title in the database or a city in the navigation system - can be entered by fingertip on the touchpad.

The Insignia driver can control the newest generation infotainment system over newly designed, clearly laid-out steering wheel controls as well as voice commands. The advanced voice recognition function can be activated by the simple push of a button on the steering wheel controls and can also process more than one command at a time. The wide range of operating choices is the result of enhancements to the new infotainment generation.

Intensifying the man-and-machine connection is the newly designed instrument panel with an up to 8-inch high-resolution color display. In addition to the classic readouts like speed, rpm and fuel tank level, further information on navigation, smartphone use and audio options are directly in the driver's line of sight and can be adjusted.

Top: New-generation 99 gram Turbo diesel and SIDI Turbo gasoline unit

The new Opel Insignia also makes a statement in terms of power train and chassis. While the mid-size model already received many accolades for driving comfort, handling and road holding, the new edition plays in a higher league. Opel engineers made a host of improvements to the chassis including to the dampers, stabilizers and steering, resulting in decreased noise and vibrational behavior and even higher comfort.

The broad, newly expanded engine portfolio is tuned to performance and comfort without any compromises. The new Opel Insignia offers the choice between the three propulsion alternatives gasoline, diesel and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas); power output ranges from 81 kW/110 hp to 239 kW/325 hp.

The new Insignia 2.0 CDTI is the eco and fuel-saving champion. Thanks to its new 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, the 88 kW/120 hp and 103 kW/140 hp variants emit just 99 g/km CO2 (Sports Tourer: 104 g/km CO2) according to EG Nr. 715/2007. This puts it in the A+ efficiency class, as the four and five-door models with six-speed manual transmission and Start/Stop system consume just 3.7 liters of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle (Sports Tourer: 3.9 l/100 km) - optimum values in this vehicle class. Both variants also boast superb torque, with the 88 kW/120 hp Turbo diesel providing up to 320 Nm and the 103 kW/140 hp model even up to 370 Nm - thanks to an automatic over boost function.

The top-of-the-line diesel is the 143 kW/195 hp 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI. The high-performance diesel with sequential, two stage turbo chargers reaches impressive torque of 400 Nm and is distinguished by its direct responsiveness as well as exemplary propulsion power across a broad rpm range.

 Mini Paceman, 2014

The MINI Paceman is the first Sports Activity Coupé in the premium small and compact segment. Its powerful, dynamically stretched coupé lines and hallmark MINI go-kart feeling team up with the exclusive ambience of its variable-usage interior to make the MINI Paceman a pioneer in the urban environment - and one whose character is vividly imbued with the innovative and inimitable style of the British premium brand. With its two doors and large tailgate, plus two full-size individual rear seats, the seventh model in the MINI family complements the elegant sportiness of its proportions with a new rendering of the familiar MINI interior.

The Design: powerful stature, sporty and elegant coupé lines.
The innovative concept of a compact Sports Activity Coupé is expressed in an exterior design that faithfully embodies the MINI Paceman's multifaceted driving properties within the template of the established MINI design language. The front end exudes muscularity and presence, while dynamically sweeping lines and powerfully curved surfaces lace the flanks of the car with sporting elegance. The coupé-style roof, swooping downwards towards the rear, sits almost seamlessly atop the passenger compartment and its distinctive contours fit neatly into the coupé mould. The most eye-catching new feature of the rear end are the taillights which, in a first for MINI, feature a horizontal design.

The Interior: exclusive ambience, impressive variability.
The MINI Paceman has been designed squarely as a four-seater. Sports seats for the driver and front passenger are included as standard, and the pair of individual seats in the rear offer impressive shoulder room and headroom, outstanding lateral support and exceptional comfort. The side window controls, meanwhile, are integrated into the prominently three-dimensional door trim. The high-opening tailgate of the MINI Paceman and its low boot sill allow the luggage area to be accessed in comfort. Load capacity stands at 330 litres, increasing to 1,080 litres when the rear seat backrests are folded down.

The drivetrain: powerful engines, optional ALL4 all-wheel-drive system.
The MINI Paceman is available in four powerful and efficient petrol and diesel variants from launch, ranging from the MINI Cooper D Paceman (82 kW/112 hp) and MINI Cooper Paceman (90 kW/122 hp) to the MINI Cooper SD Paceman (105 kW/143 hp) and MINI Cooper S Paceman (135 kW/184 hp). Plans are in place to add a MINI John Cooper Works Paceman variant to the range in due course. The Sports Activity Coupé is the second model - after the MINI Countryman - which customers can order with the ALL4 all-wheel-drive system as an option.

The chassis: a new take on the go-kart feeling.
The MINI Paceman's cutting-edge chassis - consisting of a Mac Pherson spring strut front axle and forged cross members in tandem with a multi-link rear axle - underpins its hallmark MINI agility. The new model comes as standard with lowered sports suspension and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). Electric Power Steering with standard Servotronic function likewise enhances the ever-present go-kart feeling on board the MINI Paceman.
